Aerodynamics Engineer
Location: Kent, Washington
As part of a small team, you will support the development of aerodynamic models and databases for space launch and reentry vehicles using hand calculations, engineering methods, numerical methods, and detailed test methods.
Responsibilities:
- Developing aerodynamic and aerothermodynamic data for various configurations.
- Creation of databases for use in trajectory/GN&C and structural loads analyses.
- Developing system requirements, flowdown, and verification.
- Supporting configuration development and trade studies.
- Performing flight dynamics analyses to support vehicle development.
- Developing flight test plans and operational procedures.
Qualifications:
Required
- Demonstrated experience with engineering methods (such as APAS, Missile DATCOM, MINIVER, etc), CFD tools, and aerodynamic testing.
- BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering and at least 5 years of experience with space vehicle aerodynamics, aerothermodynamics, or flight mechanics.
- U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien or otherwise able to review all export-controlled technical information.
Desired
- Experience with high lift devices, flow control, and stability and control design.
- Familiarity with trajectory analyses tools (SORT, POST, OTIS) and post-flight analysis of trajectory data.
- Knowledge of C/C++, FORTRAN, and Matlab/Simulink.
- Familiarity with knowledge capture systems, integrated engineering tools and rapid development processes.
- Knowledge in the use of 3-D CAD tools (ProEngineer is preferred).
